The Book of Barni
(Barni könyve)
Summary
Barni is a four year old boy from Cluj. His real name is Barnabas, but he is too young yet to be called like that. When he will grow up, will have a moustache perhaps even a beard, like his father, when he will marry a girl and they will have kids, and when he will drive a car, or maybe an engine, then he will be called Barnabas…
But for now, while he goes to kindergarten, Barni is quite ok. Barni has had many interesting things happen to him over the past few years. He has travelled to fascinating places, but he’s also had great adventures at home, in the garden, and outside on the street. Listen to him! You might very well chance upon similar adventures yourself, and find Barni’s stories useful.”
The hero of Balázs Zágoni’s The Book of Barni has wormed his way into the hearts of many Hungarian and Czech child and adult readers. Barni encounters a sometimes funny, sometimes fearful, but always interesting world around him, as do all children.
This book contains twenty-five short stories about Barni.
